2025 - Matthew Coleridge Breath of Life
For our 2025 workshop, we were privileged to première Matthew Coleridge's new work The Breath of Life - you can read Robin Stubbs' review of the evening concert here.
In the words of a workshop attendee: "What a fantastic day! Matthew Coleridge and Simon Dunbavand were the dream team, directing and supporting our learning throughout the day, and bringing out the very best of the DCC members and workshop singers who participated. All the hard work of the day was rewarded with a beautiful and moving first ever performance of Matthew's new work, in the Abbey, enhanced by the accompaniment of the Lyric string quartet and organist Andrew Millington. Our own chamber choir, with Matt Hulbert as soloist, also gave a sublime performance of Matthew's My Beloved Spake. It really was a very special day. Yet again Carol Robinson and Robyn Roberts organised the day with flawless attention to detail, and we thank them, and the team of DCC volunteers, for their time, energy, and dedication to making DCC's annual workshop such a resounding success."
We would like to support Matthew's work and each of us can do so by a) voting for his Requiem in the Classic FM Hall of Fame, and b) by donating to the crowdfunding project to record The breath of Life - details can be found here.
Here are some photos of the day.
